Man of Steel (2013)

Man of Steel

Zack Snyder's take on Superman is a phenomenal, energetic and a comic book which has come to life.

Zack is a director who always makes his movies visually stunning and that is why he is known as a visionary director. 300 is an ideal example that I could provide which became a solid movie and satisfied the fans to the core. This time he brought the well known Superhero into the big screen in mammoth scale of epicness and Man of Steel will be the first Superman movie after the revamp and reboot of DC Comics which happened in 2011, known as "DC New 52". Which means Superman won't be wearing his famous red undies hereafter on big screen and that fits for the modernized era we live.

The first 20 minutes of the movie concentrates on Krypton and I must admit that it was one of the most beautifully interpreted parts in the movie. The setting was so realistic and massive that it brought the alien feeling like in Avatar. The Kryptonian culture, advanced technology, winged rodent like creatures, pretty much everything were included in that short amount of time and the credit goes to Snyder for that.

Since this is an origin story and a reinvention of Superman, you can't expect a very complex plot. The writers have made changes and those changes brought a uniqueness into the movie.
Superman got a good amount of screen time, I must say that. A movie which brought Superman back to earth without degrading his moralities and potentials. The way Snyder had crafted this is really impressive.

Action sequences were intense. Two main battles stole the show and blew my socks off. The battle with Faora, and the battle with General Zod. (The two main antagonists of the movie.) Michael Shannon as General Zod was menacing and he already became a great comic book movie villain next to Heath Ledger's Joker. He simply delivered thrills.

Antje Traue as Faora. Now that is how a woman can be a total badass. You can't ask for more. She was
beautiful, evil, powerful. All in one and for me I found her quite intimidating than Zod sometimes and hotter than Lois. She alone would make a one tough villain. Her expressions, the way she fought ( Expert in Haro-kanu), the way she executed her leader's commands and her hatred towards the human race were well interpreted.
The battle with her was the greatest one in the entire movie in terms of cinematography.

Specially now I can't think of anyone other than Henry cavill who can be Superman. He was perfect  He took his character into a whole new level. Great casting.Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Amy Adams, Lawrence fishburn included.

You can't expect a dissapointing movie when two visionary directors like Chris and Zack working together. Add Hans Zimmer's score. That worked well. Unlike listening to the OST through your headsets the energy it formed inside a huge cinema like Savoy can't be measured.

I'm not saying Man of Steel is perfect hundred percent. It had like few flaws but they aren't major ones. The epicness of the movie stands over them.

Man of Steel is the Superman movie I wanted. It lived upto it's hype. It delivered what fans wanted. Henry Cavill is the Superman. Finally, you have seen only a very small amount of the movie from those trailers and tv spots

Samsara (2011)

Simply gorgeous piece of work. Well crafted and the effort is just tremendous.

Those who love photography would call this a Masterpiece, undoubtedly. Rich in colors. The landscapes, Views, People, Cities, Deserts, everything have been captured in a talented manner with patience.

Samsara becomes unique not because of it's non -narrative Documentary style but because of the spell it casts on you to bind yourself with it's majestic visuals.

Moonrise Kingdom(2012)

A pretty sweet movie which came out in 2012. Definitely this doesn't fall under mediocre movies. A well crafted comedy with a smooth story. This movie is a joyful ride with few emotional moments and beautiful scenes including meadows, nice beaches, woods.

Acting of the entire cast is natural and specially the acts of the small guys were really admirable. Let us forget about the popular faces like Edward Norton, Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton for a moment, the main two characters Sam (Jared Gilman) and Suzy (Kara Hayward) stole the show in my opinion. They've got a good amount of screen time and their story unfolded very nicely.
I should point out that the background music/OST was really impressive and ideal, which added more beauty.
A much better love story than Twilight in many ways if you ask me.
